What We Believe
These Articles of Faith constitute the doctrinal positions of Church Alive on a wide range of biblical subjects. They are not “Scripture,” but rather our attempt to express our understanding of Scripture. Their purpose is to promote a general “unity of faith” among the believers. At all times, the Bible remains the final arbiter of Truth.
We believe in one God revealed to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Three are coexistent, coeternal, and equal in divine perfection.
Matthew 28:19, 1 John 5:7
We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus, His sinless life, His powerful miracles, the sacrifice of His atoning death, His bodily resurrection, ascension, and future return to earth as both Lord and King.
Isaiah 7:14, Mark 16:6, 1 Thessalonians 4:17
We believe in the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit that empowers each Christian to live a godly life. We believe that the baptism in the Holy Spirit is available to every Christian subsequent to conversion. Additionally, we believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today and the baptism in the Holy Spirit enables us to live lives of holiness and to be witnesses of God’s saving grace.
Acts 1:5, 8, 2:4, Acts 19:1-6
We believe in the absolute inspiration of Holy Scripture.
2 Timothy 3:16
We believe that justification and sanctification is by grace through faith in our Lord’s sacrificial death on the cross.
Ephesians 2:8, 1 Corinthians 6:11
We believe being water baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spiritis an essential response to Jesus’ command, testifying to His lordship as Christ and King (Romans 6:4). We believe baptism by immersion is an outward sign of an inward work.
Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 1:9-10
We believe in partaking of the body and blood of Jesus through Holy Communion/The Lord’s Supper. Communion represents the broken body of Christ for our healing and the giving of His blood for the salvation of mankind.
1 Corinthians 11:23-26
We believe heaven is the glorious habitation of the living God and the eternal home of born-again believers.
We believe hell is a place of darkness, deepest sorrow, and unquenchable fire, which was not prepared for man but for the devil and his angels; yet it will become the place of eternal separation from God for all who reject Christ as Savior.
John 14:2; Revelation 7:15-17, Matthew 13: 41, 42; Revelation 10:10, Revelation 15
We believe in the literal second coming of our Lord, the resurrection of the saved unto eternal life and the unsaved to eternal damnation.
Revelation 21:8
We believe that God ordained marriage between one man and one woman.
Genesis 2:22-24
We believe in the sanctity of life. We are pro-life.
Genesis 1:28, Exodus 20:13
